The right tool for the right job
There are a staggering number of ways to produce a web site and on this page
we'll review just a few. Remember if you don't want to have to fight through
the agony and the ecstacy of each then let us recommend the right technology

HTML/CSS/Javascript
A plain web site can be built with HTML. Javascript and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
and will often suffice as an organisations 'bill board' on the web without introducing
any additional technology.
From this point a site can be developed in two ways: introduce
a richer style using Flash for example or introduce better features for customers and
staff.
Thinking in terms of features will encourage us to face the technical challenges early
while still keeping our minds open on which of the many web-based tools we should use
to complete the job. Also remember that it is not always necessary to commit to costly
and complicated new technologies, Javascript itself can become extremely powerful if
given a well designed server-side controller.
